Maqam Mansuri

The Maqam Mansuri is a secondary maqam based on the saba and bayat modes, with the tonic on G. It is the second in the Rast suite (fasl) and has been documented since the 17th century. According to oral tradition, it is named after the 'Abbasid musician and singer Mansur Zalzal, and in other versions after the Sufi mystic Mansur al-Hallaj or the mansur reed flute. It is known in Baghdad, Mosul and Kirkuk with regional variations.

The main scale is saba and the melody formula consists of alternating the saba and bayat modes on G, with the saba used to end musical phrases. It is sung to a classical Arabic qasida, and its music is accompanied by two alternating rhythmic formulas: the samah 36/4 during musical refrains until the first meyana and the yugrug 12/4 during singing throughout the maqam. The singer's voice is not subject to the rhythm except during the Mthaltha piece right before the taslim. There are various Turkish and Persian words sung during the meyana, taslim and the Mthaltha piece. The Maqam Mansuri includes the modulating pieces: 'Abbush (bayat), Nahuft (rast), Mathnawi (hijaz), Husayni (bayat), and Arwah (bayat). The following performances of Maqam Mansuri are from 78 rpm records and due to their limitations do not capture the full complexity of this Baghdadi maqam which can last up to 20 mins in performance.

مقام المنصوري مقام متفرع من الصبا يرتكز على درجه النوى (صول) و هو ثاني مقامات فصل الرست في المقام العراقي. يغنى بالشعر العربي الفصيح و تصاحب موسيقاه ايقاع السماح ٤/٣٦ في المقدمه و اللوازم الموسيقيه حتى الميانه الاولى، اما ايقاع اليگرك ٤/١٢ فيصاحب الغناء و الميانات و في قطعه المثلثه. نغم المنصوري يتكون من جنسي الصبا و البيات على درجه النوى و القفله تكون بجنس الصبا بعد الصعود بجنس البيات الى درجه المحير. تدخل في مقام المنصوري قطع و اوصال من اجناس متعدده: الصبا على درجه النوى، البيات على درجه النوى، البيات على الدوكاه، العبوش (بيات على النوى)، الناهفت (رست على الجهاركاه)، الحسيني (رست على الكردان و بيات على المحير)، المثنوي (حجاز على النوى)

مقام المنصوري سلمه يبدأ من درجه النوى و يمكن تصويره على اي درجة قريبه مع الاحتفاظ بأبعاده. درجات سلمه بالاسماء الغربية:

صول - لا كاربيمول - سي بيمول - دو بيمول - ري - مي بيمول - فا - صول

بالأسماء الشرقية:

نوى - تك حصار - عجم - ماهور - محير - سنبله - ماهوران - سهم

ألا فاسقِني خمراً وقل لي هي الخمر * ولا تسقني سراً إذا أمكن الجهرُ

و ماالغَبْنُ إلاّ أن ترَانيَ صاحـيا * و ما الغُنْـمُ إلا أن يتعتعني السكرُ
