شفها السير والاسى والغرام * و برأها الانجاد والاسهام

فترفق بها فأن حشاها * لو تأملتها جوى و غرام

يوم لاح الحمى فقلت لصحبي * هذه دارهم و تلك الخيام

فنثرنا من الهوى عبرات * فحسبنا ان الدموع ركام

هو قاريء المقام المتميز عبد الرحمن بن خضر بن صفر البياتي المولود في بغداد محلة الفضل عام ١٩٢٥. غنى صبيا وكان المقام اول نمط من الغناء شغف به وراح يردده بين اترابه وعلى نطاق ضيق ولم تبرز موهبته وتتسع مساحة شهرته الا في غضون عام ١٩٣٩ فظهر على ساحة الغناء كواحد من قراء المقام الشباب. وفي عام ١٩٤١ غنى لاول مرة امام الاستاذ الكبير محمد القبانجي مقام الاوج ، فشجعه على المضي في الغناء ونصحه بضرورة المواصلة وتعلم المقامات وطرق ادائها وكان لتشجيع القبانجي له الاثر الكبير في الاستمرارية ومعرفة انغام المقامات حتى توسعت مداركه. و في عام ١٩٤٨ دخل الاذاعة ونجح في الاختبار من قبل القاريء المعروف رشيد القندرجي الذي كان مشرفا على المقام في الاذاعة آنذاك وكان المقام الذي اختبر به هو مقام الاورفه. وعبد الرحمن خضر يجيد اداء كافة المقامات العراقية ويؤديها بطريقة استاذه الروحي محمد القبانجي. توفي في بغداد عام ١٩٨٤
